I guess it was like a good 11 years ago that I first played soccer in Primary 6. Was a total noob back then, knowing nothing much about this world famous sports. Fate must have certainely played a part cause for some reason (which i cant remember), I own a pack of cards with soccer players inprint and their profile etc on it.
It was then out of nowhere that I picked out 2 cards from the deck and handed one over to my bro. I remember telling him sumthing along the line of ' You'll support him'. His card reads 'Gavin Peacock - Chelsea FC'. Well, my bro turns out to be a basketball person instead. Haa.
No points for guessing what my card reads, but that's how I came about supporting this team for the good past 10 years. Watching players donning the famous red jersey, from low profile players like Butt, Irwin, Scholes, Blanc, Teddy, Solskjaer etc to high profile kinds like Ruud, Beckham, Rio, Cantona and now the unstoppable C.Ronaldo.
Who can also forget those that tried but didn't really make it. Players like Bosnich, Taibi, Veron, Kleberson, Forlan.
I'm not those 'Support Man Utd cuz they are Champs' kind fans for I roughly know past players like Denis Law, Best, Duncan Edwards, Bobby Charlton. And the Munich air disaster, I've even a Official Man Utd poker-sized card on it.
Alright, enough of this Man Utd thing, glad that my gf also supports Man Utd. For what true reason I dunno but I guess is cuz of the Number 7 now. Haa.
To me, Number 11 will always be my hero. The Welsh Wizard.
